Allied Blenders and Distillers Limited (ABD) began commercial operations at its Moradabad bottling plant in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, adding an initial capacity of 6 million cases annually. The plant was acquired in January 2026 for about ₹70 crore and upgraded with an additional ₹40 crore investment. This move is part of ABD’s broader ₹600 crore capital deployment in Uttar Pradesh, aiming to expand manufacturing and bottling capabilities, according to thehindubusinessline.com.
The Moradabad facility, acquired earlier this year, was enhanced to improve service efficiency and reduce costs by increasing in-house bottling and lowering franchise fees. ABD’s Managing Director Amar Sinha emphasized backward integration and greater control over the value chain, including captive Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) supply, as key strategic priorities. The company operates 40 manufacturing units nationwide, including 10 owned bottling plants and 2 distilleries, with brands like Officer’s Choice and Sterling Reserve.
This investment deepens ABD’s presence in Uttar Pradesh, a key market for the company’s portfolio that spans 39 international markets. The new bottling capacity and integrated facility with a dual-mode distillery are expected to enhance operational efficiencies and cost savings. ABD’s shares traded at ₹743.55 on the NSE following the announcement, down slightly but reflecting a nearly 35% gain over the past year, despite a high trailing price-to-earnings ratio of about 99.86.
The Moradabad plant’s commissioning marks a significant step in ABD’s expansion strategy in Uttar Pradesh, complementing its existing manufacturing network. The company’s next quarterly earnings report, scheduled for late October, will provide further insight into the impact of this investment on its operational performance and financials.
