Singapore-based Hillhouse Investments has launched TeraNova DC, a dedicated data centre platform, aiming to invest $12-15 billion to develop over 2GW capacity across major Indian markets by 2032, CEO Sanjay Bhutani said. The platform will focus on hyperscale, AI-ready, and sustainable data centre campuses in Maharashtra, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, and Gujarat.
TeraNova DC’s strategy centers on acquiring strategically located land banks, power-ready sites, and scalable campus infrastructure to support rapid deployment. Bhutani, appointed to deepen Hillhouse’s India presence, highlighted the platform’s goal to provide compute-ready infrastructure with speed, reliability, and confidence. He emphasized building success through an experienced team, technology and energy partnerships, and disciplined delivery.
The move aligns with India’s growing digitization and demand for gigawatt-scale data centre campuses as hyperscalers, enterprises, and AI startups expand. Hillhouse’s investment plan reflects the sector’s increasing focus on AI-ready infrastructure and sustainable operations, addressing the country’s need for large-scale, reliable digital infrastructure. The platform’s approach mirrors trends seen in global hyperscale data centre developments.
Sanjay Bhutani brings nearly 30 years of experience in IT, telecom, and digital infrastructure, having led data centre strategies prior to joining Hillhouse. The company’s plan to deploy up to $15 billion by 2032 marks one of the largest commitments to India’s data centre sector to date, signaling a significant push in the country’s digital infrastructure landscape.
