Pune-based Minimac Systems has raised ₹30 crore ($3.2 million) in a funding round led by Zerodha’s investment arm Rainmatter to scale its lubricant recycling infrastructure across India, the company announced. Founded in 2012 by IIM Indore alumnus Anshuman Agrawal, Minimac plans to use the funds to enhance its research and development in miniaturised fluid-treatment infrastructure, fleet automation, and fluid analytics.
Minimac operates in three key areas of lubricant circularity: nano circularity, which monitors lubricant condition within industrial equipment; micro circularity, which restores recoverable lubricant by removing contaminants; and its ‘Recycling on Wheels’ service, which deploys mobile treatment systems directly at industrial plants. This onsite restoration approach eliminates the need to transport oil to treatment facilities. Agrawal said the investment will enable the company to bring advanced restoration and circularity infrastructure to more industrial plants across India, according to inc42.com.
India is the world’s third-largest lubricant market after the United States and China, consuming over 5 million tonnes of lubricants and greases annually. Despite this large consumption, the country imports a significant portion of its lubricant needs. Minimac’s technology and services aim to improve lubricant lifecycle management and reduce dependency on imports by enhancing recycling capabilities within the country.
The fresh capital will also support Minimac’s expansion of its doorstep services footprint and deepen its recycling technology. The company’s focus on miniaturised fluid-treatment infrastructure and fluid analytics is expected to improve efficiency and sustainability in lubricant management for industrial clients across India.
