Origin Fresh, a Bengaluru-based fresh produce startup, is in discussions to raise $10 million in a Series A funding round to deepen its supply chain and expand its retail footprint, founder and CEO Prashanth Vasan said. The startup, founded in 2020, aims to bring premium fruits and vegetables to Indian consumers through this capital infusion, which follows previous seed and pre-Series A rounds totaling $3.5 million, according to inc42.com.

The company has raised $3.5 million so far from investors including Aeravti Ventures, Microlabs, Sattva Family Office, Switzerland-based Botnar Foundation, and Spain-based Netri Foundation. Origin Fresh operates a vertically integrated supply chain, sourcing produce from over 10,000 farmers via five collection centres, then routing goods to distribution centres in Bengaluru and Chennai. It delivers produce through 15 company-operated stores that also serve as fulfilment hubs for walk-in and online customers.

Origin Fresh’s approach to controlling nearly every step of the supply chain from farm to consumer differentiates it in India’s competitive fresh produce market. The startup serves both B2B and direct-to-consumer channels and plans to use the new funds to open more stores in metro and tier II cities, invest in brand building, and enhance supply chain capabilities. This strategy aligns with growing consumer demand for quality fresh produce and efficient delivery in India.

The company currently operates 15 stores across Bengaluru and Chennai, which function as both retail outlets and fulfilment centres. This network supports its distribution to urban customers and businesses, positioning Origin Fresh to scale its operations as it secures additional funding.
